After graduating from Texas Tech University, Matthew got his Masters from Washington University. While in St. Louis, the exposed layers of rock carved by the Mississippi River and excavated through mining served as inspiration for unique landscapes and how they interface with architecture. This cultivated his desire to connect the built environment with the natural.

After graduating he worked in St. Louis gaining experience in multi-family and commercial mixed-use design. Through client interaction, he developed an interest in the relational aspect of architecture and the intimacy of design. He enjoys problem-solving and expressing his creativity whenever he can.

He and his wife moved back to their home state to be closer to their family. In his spare time, Matthew enjoys being outdoors camping, hiking, and mountain biking. He also delights in using his artistic talents through drawing, painting, writing, and being crafty. He has painted several murals, literally leaving his mark wherever he goes.
