Blue Lake Pavilion Lake LBJ, Texas

The Blue Lake Pool Pavilion is a recreational building that is auxiliary to the private client’s existing home. This building is designed for its specific Texas Hill Country landscape and situated on Lake LBJ surrounded by an abundance of wildlife and native trees. The program includes a great room for gathering, dining and entertainment, a restroom with shower, a small kitchen & bar, and storage room for pool floats and accessories. The project site includes a jacuzzi & pool built into a two-level terrace that steps up the sloping terrain toward the pavilion with an expansive view of the lake. The exterior materials were selected to match the existing structure, and facing the main house, there is a connecting terrace with a built-in gas grill niche.
The view toward the lake is the focal point. Large glass walls flank the great room on the north and south. At 40’ wide and 10’ tall, these glass walls allow the building dissolve into the landscape. Operable sliding glass doors create a 16’ wide, open-air path straight through, connecting the south pool terrace to the north lawn. A tiered retaining wall steps up from the play lawn to the perimeter fence where the native planting is becoming established. By extroverting the simplicity and natural beauty of the structure to the landscape, the Blue Lake Pavilion creates a sense of harmony and relaxation.
